Hailing out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina - The Porchmen. Producing a sound which embraces the vibe and attitude of traditional Old-Timey, Folk, and Bluegrass music along with modern melodies and catchy riffs, their song writing style has been described as "reflective," "upbeat," and "real."
The Porchmen formed when Andrew Ellis and Cornelis Verkerk began writing and playing music on the porch in the summer of 2012. Andrew thunders in on the upright bass and lead vocals, and Cornelis picks and hammers on the banjo whilst occasionally providing backup hollerin’. Guitarist, Jonny “Big Jon” Pineda, joined The Porchmen shortly after its founding, adding not just guitar but also beautiful lead vocals and dulcet harmonies to contrast his rugged image. The newest member, the talented Jessica Tufte out of Buffalo, New York, has added a new dynamic to the band as a classically trained violinist gone fiddle-player.
The Porchmen started by playing at the events of friends and family, where they discovered a love for playing for people. Before long, they began booking shows in venues in the greater Chapel Hill/triangle area bringing in big crowds and playing good music for fans.
